Who We Are

We are the information source you can trust!

Kansas Cooperative Extension Service

All universities engage in research and teaching. But the nation's more than 100 land-grant colleges and universities have a third critical mission — extension.

“Extension” means “reaching out.” Along with research and teaching, land-grant institutions “extend” their resources, solving public needs through non-formal, non-credit programs.

Johnson County, Kansas

As the local branch of Kansas State University Research and Extension (Kansas' land-grant university), the Johnson County Extension office has access to the latest science, research and technology on subjects in five program areas.

We make the university’s expertise available to you and applicable to your local needs. You can trust that the information we provide is

  1. research-based,
  2. expert and
  3. presented without bias.

Our Partners

Johnson County Extension is a unique partnership with not only Kansas State University, but also Johnson County government, and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Cooperative Extension Service. We have been working together to address local issues since 1917.
